I am a distributor. Can I join Afera?
To quality as a member, your business must be classified as a manufacturer of tape, supplier of raw materials, machines or packaging, converter (specialty non-graphic die cutter) of tape, European national adhesive or tape organisation, related institution or university in order to apply for membership. Do all members have an equal voice and vote within Afera?
This depends on the class and status of membership of the member or participant. All members, whether they are classified as “active”, “associated”, “affiliated” or “honorary”, are entitled to attend the General Assembly which takes place at the Annual Conference in October. Only active members have voting rights and are eligible for membership of the Steering Committee. “Other participants” falling within the special membership category are welcome to take part in certain Afera activities, including the Annual Conference, and to take advantage of some of Afera’s resources as agreed by the SC. What does Afera require of its members?
Afera is run by the industry for the industry. We request that members actively participate in events and activities and offer their valuable input into discussions and issues when and where possible. There are no requirements, however, beyond timely payment of annual fees.

What are the benefits of Afera membership?

How do I become a member?

How long does it take to become a member?
Once submitted to the Secretariat, your application is subject to approval by the Steering Committee, a process which can take up to 30 days. Following this, you will receive written confirmation indicating your admission date, your login details and other pertinent membership information.

All Afera members are encouraged to publish Afera’s member logo link on their websites. Download it here.

Will becoming a member and participating in Afera’s activities and initiatives compromise my company’s competitive edge or fair competition in the common adhesive tape market?
No. Efficiency and accountability are two of the Association’s core values. We strictly adhere to a policy of confidentiality concerning any and all sensitive information collected from a member company or organisation. Furthermore, Afera guarantees in our published antitrust guidelines that fair competition among members and the industry will not be compromised by exercising Association membership. We aim to share resources and access expertise among our membership and associates to support the building of the individual businesses and common market driving the adhesive tape industry.

How can my company or organisation involve itself in Afera’s committees and working groups?
Participation in Afera’s committees and WGs is highly encouraged as it facilitates the successful evolution of member businesses and organisations, the adhesive tape industry and the Association. Afera members should contact any of the members of the Steering, Marketing or Technical Committees, which meet at least two times a year, to find out how they can get involved.

Are Afera’s annual conference and other events open to admission of non-members?
Yes. Non-members who are considering joining the Association are invited to attend the Annual Conference one time at a special non-member rate. Those with Afera’s “other participants” status, such as converters, are also permitted to attend the Annual Conference. The Tape College and Technical Seminar are open to non-members.

Do I have to be a member to advertise with Afera or sponsor an Association event?
No. Both members and non-members are invited to take advantage of the various advertising opportunities Afera has to offer. These include advertising in Afera News, here on afera.com and at events. Options range from digital banners and editorials to corporate messaging on signage and promotional handouts at the Annual Conference, Tape College and Technical Seminar.
